Individuals value their privacy and expect you to respect it. All organisations that collect, hold and use personal information have to comply with the Data Protection Act 1998. In addition if you use text messaging, phonecalls or email to promote your organisation or ideals you will also have to comply with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003. Lee Taylor from Information Commissioner's Office will explain the law as it applies to charities, associations and not for profit organisations and provide tips and advice to help you stay within the law.
