In 2004 new types of NHS hospital came into being - ‘not-for-profit public benefit corporations’ or ‘foundation trusts’. There are now nearly 150, with every trust in the country set to follow. Fundamental to this model is a new way of governance; members, elected governors and demonstrable on-going ‘engagement’. What can Charities and Associations learn from this new sector?
